Incontinence in women and men

Not many things in our bodies are easy to understand but I will endeavour to explain the fundamentals of this issue and give hope to those who suffer it.

The most common explanation is that there is a lack of energy available ( electrical stimulation) for the bladder to hold its tension under load of urine. So essentially this is a neurological response issue.

The body has five ‘solid’ yin organs and five ‘hollow’ yang organs of which the bladder is one of them - it is an elimination mechanism but like all organs performs a multitude of tasks and relationships.

The hollow Yang organs are generally tasked with movement of things around and out of the body - warmth, fluids and bio-electricity in the case of general movement and then the elimination of waste from the body including fluids, solids, energies and even psychological energy.

All of these are crucial components for health.

Each organ has a channel system that allows warmth and energy to flow for growth, sustenance and repair of the body, including muscles and tissues, these same channels are used for the elimination of waste - generally speaking at the extremities, which includes the skin ( sweat and toxin release).

It is a Yin / Yang- push / pull - pressure building / pressure releasing system.

The bladder channel is the longest in the body, It emanates at the inner canthal region of the eyes and terminating on the external aspect of the little toes and has 45 embryological control points upon it - the very same that are used by acupuncture, acupressure and me.

You can see it’s full trajectory in the images provided, including internal pathways.

You will notice that the bladder channel comes from the eye over the skull and down the back of the body to the legs and down to the feet.

Within your body it cascades through the spaces within the fascial planes of the body, the microscopic and macro spaces between connective tissue are the channels or poorly named ‘ meridians’ of our bodies.

Each of the control points on the back illustrated in the pathway of the bladder channel in the below image used to be microscopic bladders when you were the size of a comma in utero.

When you stand under a hot shower with warm water cascading down across your head and down your back you will notice the effect that this has on your bladder - many humans cannot resist the urge to urinate under this stimulation.

So to the problem of incontinence, a weaken state of control or strength in the bladder. Well it’s not just the bladder, it’s a whole part of our system and the bladder is just a demonstrable part that gets our attention via symptoms, there will be nerves affected as well.

This is good news because strengthening other parts of the system with energy exchange or supply can quickly improve the visible or tangible problems that have caught our attention on this level, in this case bladder control.

The body very frequently displays problems of over supply or under supply of energy. Sneezing would be considered excess whereas aging and diminishing collagen production would be considered a deficiency.

In the bladders case as with all organ systems, ageing brings challenges, so does trauma, disease and environmental or emotional factors. All of these and more can affect the urinary bladder system and they should be addressed within the treatment session for the relevance that they bring.

If the client lives a trapped life of utter frustration, feeling pissed off at the world, or even habitual jealousy for instance, then these factors may play a part in constricting or disturbing Qi via the psyche, and many a condition has been unraveled on this level alone.

In Energy Therapy simply talking about these issues whilst adjusting energy correspondences often plays a significant role.

The bladder is also a part of the sixth and most outer layer of the embryonic development process in our body. It relates to the ectoderm layer in embryology that creates the skin, nervous system and bladder.

It forms with the skin, brain stem and spinal cord to form our most external protection against pathogens - this layer ‘ dips’ into the lymphatic system and helps develop and maintain defensive Qi ( energy) and immunity by assisting elimination of toxins from the lymph.

The autonomous nervous system and brain, the sympathetic trunks of the nervous system and the spine, also the connection between the vast neural network within the small intestines that connect internally with the heart and brain are all formed here - fit for purpose to fuel the powerful defensive Qi that protects us from external pathogens.

Our most powerful Yang energies warms and nourishes the muscles, regulates body temperature, controls the skin pores, and protects the body.

It becomes our tortoise shell energetically. A virtual wonder of a cloak of defensive energy vibrating, communicating and moving within and off the body.

When pathogens enter the body they steal energy ( heat ) so it makes sense that the threat to this layer is titled COLD in TCM, which relates to pathogens stealing heat.

WIND / COLD is abnormal Qi energy movement due to energy (heat) loss and unnatural transformation. All disease states demonstrate this.

So it’s fair to say that when the supply of energy is diminished by age, infection or other factors, this level cannot perform to task as efficiently.

If the body requires its Yang energy elsewhere for instance, such as in the case when fighting an illness or chronic condition, the outer layer including the bladder receive less vital energy to function.

Post viral conditions can and do cause weakened states in this level of the body as incontinence, and many nervous system disorders attest to.

With hand applied Energy Therapy we can help reintroduce the currents and allow the bladder to return to function.

We can calm the storm of Qi energy behaving out of character and allow the body to function without tension duress.

At www.energytherapyclinic.com.au we offer a specific incontinence therapy. In my clinical practice, this condition is often strengthened relatively quickly as many things are with Energy Therapy.

One or two sessions often sees very significant improvements - age and illness levels need to be taken into account of course.

I treated an ex pilot two had significant issues with incontinence and also nervous system tremors. Both relating to energy deficiency in this outer layer of the body.

He was in his seventies and was passing urine each hour during the night - with minimal treatment he returned to five to six hour intervals which transformed his quality of life as he could obtain proper rest.

In Energy Therapy I focus on supporting the kidneys energetically whilst connecting them then to the bladder energetically - this has a very strong effect on incontinence as it re-establishes energy flow where it was deficient.

I also focus on other techniques such as bringing energy back into the bladder from this very long channel - source energy it is called in TCM / acupuncture / acupressure.

TCM theory states that pathogenic factors ( viruses, bacteria and fungi) are physically moved down this layer to the Bladder, where they are excreted, showing the importance and daily requirement for the bladder to function properly.

Physical cold can cause back pain. Treat Bladder channel to release this problem.

Wind -Cold ( 🦠 microbes) May lead to conditions such as interstitial cystitis when the pathogen is stuck in the Bladder or even the Kidney.

The channel system provides the conduit to move these pathogens or physical cold down the limbs and out of the body.

Wind-Cold —treat Bladder and Kidney channels.

Shu points on the back contain powerful energetic resonances with neural crest cells ( neurological) these are the evolutionary most vital aspects of our body including electrical intelligence.

They communicate deep into the body where they direct growth especially via the organs. They also play are significant role in healing the pathways and correspondences that cause incontinence.

They are powerhouses, and spectacular.

I summarise post natal incontinence in simple terms ( sometimes simple concepts are very helpful in understanding very complex systems) as the body having been to busy prioritising other life giving functions for the child in utero.

In post birth the body is tasked with redefining and remembering what it is like to be an individual again and not two life forces sharing one vessel.

The body is all about balance, and this process of developing a child and giving birth is profound. Sometimes it leaves the mother in a state that is out of kilter and requiring assistance to regain balance in the harmonic rhythms of energy flow and exchanges within us.

Energy Therapy is designed for this purpose, to help re-establish balance in Qi generation and distribution, and to bring harmony to disassociated or disorganised energy.

You will notice in the images below one that relates to the energy supply to muscle groups governed by the bladder channel- many back pain issues are also treated within this channel approach.

Being the longest channel in the body leaves it susceptible to greater energy disruption. Keeping it in healthy Qi flow is important and very useful.
