This problem is approached, as all problems are, by which of the six great embryological planes/divisions in the body are involved. Because these embryological planes or divisions are keyed to respond to specific environmental challenges or stimulus to the body.

In this case the outer most plane or embryological division is the key to most back pain issues. This plane consists of the skin, bladder and spine/brain stem.

The Bladder channel traverses the whole length of the back. Much of these contractions that lead to pain can be cleared by working with these channel and point aspects of the system.

There is a lovely “ control point” behind the knee on each side of the body that has a masterful connection to the lower back especially. This point location in ancient Shamanic knowledge is well known and modern acupuncturists have labeled it Bladder 40.

BL40 the sea-point of the bladder channel is also the hui-point of the lower back, meaning that the energy of the lower back congregates, and can be profoundly changed, here. As a sea-point, it tonifies and encourages movement in the channel and organ and rectifies energy that is rebelling and going the wrong way ( counterflow).

The Bladder channel travels the entire back and many problems here are due to poor muscle tone driven by excess in lifestyles. This point affects the musculature of the sinew channel of the back as well as the Bladder itself.

It can assist in having rapid and long lasting effects in relief of lumbar pain in my experience. I use this point especially with resonance to the lower back and then also clear the bladder channel from the foot, where it exits the body.

When bio-electricity crosses to the wrong side of any membrane in the body it sets up a conflict in the muscle, fascia or organ, where they end up fighting electrically against themselves within the tissue, which causes a twisted contraction and consequently, lack of flow, stagnation and eventually pain.
