The Organs
In our bodies we have six Yin organs:
Heart - Spleen - Liver - Lung - Kidney - Pericardium.
In our bodies we also have six Yang Organs:
Small Intestines - Stomach - Gall bladder - Large intestine - Bladder - Fascia (connective tissue)- (Triple Burner Function in TCM).
The Yin are solid and the Yang are hollow.
Simply speaking : Yin organs absorb, hold, cleanse, repair, and separate and regulate, blood predominately , whilst the yang organs protect, maintain essential movement, move things out to the extremities for elimination-and maintain essential warmth in the body.
Note: the hollowness of the fascia ( connective tissue) is represented by the negative space in between the fascia , which are the energetic channels of the body.
Yin organs suffer traditionally from deficiency and depletion, Yang organs from excess ( e.g. heat, inflammation).
Yin gently moves things inwards, and yang has strong virile movement outwards. The six great embryological planes or divisions of the body have a complex harmonic aspect to the movements of energy between these layers.
These beginnings of understanding of the body, allow us insight into disease, stagnation, excess, deficiency, in both diagnostics and treatment.
They guide us toward rectification and strengthening of problem areas.
