Self care?

What does that actually mean to you, to care for yourself?

Write a small list before you go on, it will be an interesting reference. Do that now!

Is it stimulating like a morning coffee and run- or is it calming?

Are you trying to lift your spirit and body into life’s rhythm or remove it from patterns of chaos, tension and anxiety?

Does your version of self care involve your body to a large degree, or is your body simply expected to take the ride again with that mind of yours?

These are questions well worth writing down and pondering.

What relationship do you truely have with your own body and the energies within?

I say ” your own body “, because you truely own it, not your lover, parents or friends, and most certainly not your religious organisation or any form of government.

Do you consider it a custom made biological space suit designed by or for your spiritual life within your physical experience.?

Or is it more of a Darwinian primate type of thing?

If you learn toward the mystical and spiritual perspectives, who might have designed it?

Who wrote the code ( DNA) for it, because codes do get written don’t they?

What part of your higher self might be playing a part in your mind / body experiences?, the orchestration, the architecture?

And how present is this part of you?, how often is it even a consideration, how often is it invited into your consciousness?

When understood, how might that change your perspective and perception to what self care might look like.?

What spiritual practices might then be sought and loved. What joy might be experienced.

What bliss or rapture might you be able to create? And when experiencing this, might you be able to connect that to the concepts of self care?

I consider your spirit to be the Yang ( moving) aspect of your Yin ( still ) Soul and both are handsomely present within your biology and your mind.

They are the Yin and Yang aspects and behaviours of Chi ( Qi).

It ( Qi) is the animation to the backdrop of eternity. And it is highly visible in your body.

Chi ( Qi ) is accurately seen as a display of your living spirit. Your spirit is your energy and to influence one is to influence both.

Your energy is a living part of your soul. And your energy levels and quality display your capacity for Spiritual presence, awareness and wellbeing.

The greatest masters of awareness in human history made health practices to benefit their spirits and souls via their energies.

They most clearly knew the link.

These self care practices included Meditation, Yoga, Tantric, Contemplation, Compassion, Laughter and of course Love.

All of these practices are designed to deliver joy and peace both to the practitioners and to the world around them.

All of these practices are designed to balance energies.!

Because energies in balance create harmony.

The humble beginnings of all of them is the awareness that spiritual life is intrinsically bound to our bodies and physical experiences.

Mental illness and malaise in general is disconnection from these understandings. Depression is compression of the energies of the spirit allowing no movement and harmony.

Because energetic movements seek harmony by their nature we can assume that they are within the design of goodness and designed to assist us.

It is up to us to pay attention to them and assist them where we can.

Understanding where we hold contractions in our psyche helps us gather insight into why our bodies are reacting.

What are they showing us?

Anxiety is over stimulating Yang without the Yin stillness and grounded calmness of the soul being fully present, it’s a spirit experiencing fear - hence the remedies for anxiety being orientated toward stillness.

It is a defensive posturing, a protective mechanism of the soul.

When is the last time your mental health practitioner spoke of these things?, do they ever?

I treated a young woman this week who had a long journey with a psychologist, who had run out of developmental capacity with her, and she had been encouraged to seek a more traditional or holistic type of practitioner.

She found me. And as is so often the way I could not help but see the person in front of me.

In this session as in all sessions of this type, people need to be seen first then understood.

If you can’t see them, neither will they. And they need to, to be able to connect with the well within them.

Because drinking from that well is like a superpower. Self understanding is like an elixir, it delivers vital context where things truely make sense.

Jigsaws are completed, and energies are not longer in dis-concordance or competing for ways to harmonise.

I usually make a point of following up on clients to see how they have adjusted or balanced after a session.

It’s exiting to witness shifts and healings within people. I’m appreciative to get feedback and grateful to be involved in these processes.

When people like my ‘out of sorts’ client feel a lot lighter and calmer, more peace is present. Their soul is in more harmony with life.

And apart from relieving pain and disease potentials, that’s as good a result as any.
