Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain:

Much of chronic pain is caused by stagnant electricity ( low voltage) that has created chronic or acute tension / contraction / stagnation in the body.

This is stagnation in the flow of Qi (Chi), which is intelligently directed bio electricity, most often occurs in the macroscopic and microscopic spaces and channels within us.

The channels are all part of micro-circuits that traverse our bodies in highly organised systems and environments.

These are the highways for fluids and electricity.

The most dynamic area of these is our torso and head, with the arms and legs extensions of this main circuit.

The Taoist Monks we’re phenomenally acquainted with this electrical inner landscape.

Lao Tzu’ the rather famous and enlightened Chinese Sage mastered the influence of this electrical circuitry to bring his awareness into enlightenment.

This was accurately named “ The circuit of the light”.

When disturbance occurs in this circuitry or the extended circuits of the arms and legs, the environments change both locally and distally within the body.

The distal aspect is as important, as our organs maintain vital relationships via these circuits.

This is why in Chinese Medicine, Qi disturbance in organs ( cells or membranes) and associated channels and networks, can show in symptoms in the extremities.

A good example is Gout which is a Liver Qi problem - often displays symptoms of the big toe, where the Liver channels terminates.

Another example is Liver heat rising, which often reddens the face.

What occurs is that the electrical stagnation on membranes or in channels causes the associated nerves to maintain a lower threshold of depolarisation.

Leading to chronic expressions of pain.

Clear the electrical stagnation and the nerves return to a more normal threshold of depolarisation, and the chronic pain aspect is relieved.

I clear stagnation of Qi with effective hand applied resonance techniques that invites movement in Qi, and healthy correspondences.

Correspondences that are vital within a circuit. And our body is literally built on these many circuits.

This principle of clearing electrical stagnation is the hallmark of why acupuncture, acupressure and techniques like my Energy Therapy, massage and even Bowen therapies work so well.

The dry needling and Tens machine type of applications that are now so commonly used by Physiotherapists have been 'Borrowed' from deeper learning styles such as acupuncture sciences.

They are all effective at moving stagnation. This is what the client is searching for - the elimination of pain, and often these approaches are sufficient. With deeper pathologies though, we must look to the layered matrix of the body to understand where deeper congestions or deficits in energy are emanating from and rectify the imbalances in the circuit.

It is useful to understand that electricity flows and works in the body like water does in nature, it flows from high pressure environments ( Thoracic cage ) to low pressure environments ( tips of hands and feet ). And when blocked seeks an alternate path of least resistance.

There are other causes of chronic pain that i will address in a deeper way in another Blog, these arise from the conditions or internal terrain within us, such as dryness which leads to inflammation.

Effectively though, chronic pain is a condition that undoubtedly creates psychological changes in a person, which are then mirrored in altered brain chemistry, and even neuronal function.

This should not change the underlying diagnosis as being rooted in the body, as all pain is caused by stagnant Qi, and it’s sister biology, stagnant blood.

Opioids increase stagnation:

Chronic qi stagnation will inevitably produce chronic blood stagnation, this process is worsened by opioids which work by numbing the body to pain, but in the process cause drowsiness and hence stagnation.

This leads to further Qi stagnation, and has a slightly toxic effect on the blood. This is barely recognised by science, yet it is evident in histamine release that causes redness and itchiness.

This means that opioids also ‘heat’ the blood, and especially the Liver ( and JueYin in storing it).

Blood heat would tend to cause the hún ( the spirit of the liver) to ‘float, resulting in vivid dreams and hallucinations, which is exactly as described with morphine use. The very origins of the word are from Morpheus the Greek God of Dreams.

Over time, blood heat will consume blood, a fact that over time may account for the anaemias of drug addicts, and chronic I’ll health.

In summary - Qi or bio-electrical stagnation represents a drop in voltage, flow and currents drop, environments stagnate, heat builds, chronic conditions form.
